Hi, My name is Valentin. I live in Belgium, near Chimay -for those who love beers-. I love cars since my birth and I've always loved motoring from the 80s. I own a may 1988 (belgian-made) Ascona 1.6 LS, low mileage, french model, saved from the scrap last year. So back to its birth place! Oddly specced : red, twin mirrors, grey faux-leather, no radio or speakers (well, it changed with period correct Sharp headunit and Pioneer speakers). The CCs were not that rare back in the day, but I haven't seen one (except mine) since the early 00s. So, I'm pretty proud of my time capsule. It's the most reliable car I've ever had. Opels are very popular here, but I can…

Well been away from the fold for a long time, previously had a couple of Calibres E21YND and E150YNB both long gone, a few 130's a couple of SRI's a Convertible C800BJT more Mk3's than I can recall, 20+ Vectra's, just reminiscing and wondering how much it would cost me to get my portly backside back in a Mk2, Calibre/130/SRI/Saloon. Wonder who is here I remember. Tahir? Rabbit? Some off my old motors below, all long gone.

Hi all thanks for letting me join up as I’m going to be restoring my cavalier calibre in early spring next year. It’s not seen the light of day since 1996 and in a sorry state. It’s only covered 43k from new and has only been a one owner car my uncle who sadly passed away early this year. as far as I can see it has little to no rust. I will upload some pictures ASAP

Hi, I came across to this forum as I was searching about the Cavalier MK2, and the reason for me to do this search is because my father die yesterday in Brazil and he left a Cavalier MK2 for me and my sister. As I live in UK I thought I should join you guys and perhaps some of you could help me on find parts or even what could be done in the car to make it a bit more exciting. It is very early time to what I am going to do with the car. But It was a car that my father loves and I really would like to make it run well and have a bit of fun when I am visiting my sister in Brazil. Let's see what I will be doing to this car, but at the moment is to make it road wo…

Hello again everyone. Been a long time, no longer a Cavalier owner sadly, sold it to a fellow member. Anyway, saving again, should be a position to buy one next year with a decent budget ( as long as they don’t keep rising! ) Good for you owners, not for us buyers!!

I live in sunny Australia having moved from the UK about 10 years ago. My first car was a mk2 Astra back in 1997 and I've always kept a lookout for anything Griffin-badged which might have made its way down under. After nearly a decade a 1984 Cavalier SRi has turned up on my radar which I'm going to have a cheeky look at over the weekend. I can't imagine there will be more than a very small handful of Cavaliers in the country, possibly single figures. Can anyone offer any pointers as to what to look for when inspecting the car? We are in a dry climate but I don't at this stage know how much of its life the car has spent out here. From the photos I can make out a few …

Hi everyone, I have been a member for quite a few months, but I have only just got round to deciding what to do with my old cavalier. I have owned the car from 1990 (I am the second owner) I was planning on restoring the car eventually but due to a change in circumstances reluctantly I have decided to Sell.I have all MOT's and service history, the car has always been well looked after and maintained and waxoyled regularly underneath from when I first owned it.New outer sills in Feb 2000 but rust was beginning to show through on rear wheel arches and rear valance by middle of 2001 @110,000 miles and was touched up. The car has clocked up a gen…

First of all, I want to express my unimaginable happiness for stumbling upon this forum. Cavalier mk2, or Opel Ascona, the brand I have are seriously underappreciated cars, and as such I'm having real difficulties finding resources to work. I look forward to using this forum, learning from it and sharing what I can. So, my name is Marko, I'm from Serbia, and I have a 1987 Opel Ascona sedan. The engine is the type that went into Corsa/Nova, the 1.3 S, available on Ascona only in some markets... underpowered slightly, but that's in the books for the future. Car itself is decently good, floor behind the rear wheels needs quite a bit of work and a few tiny patches in pas…

Back in 1986, my dad bought a new cavalier (or opel Ascona as its known by here in Ireland). A lovely brown hatch with 1.6 petrol. Shortly after buying it, it was stolen and crashed. Back then cars were repaired. He had it afterwards for 6 years and ran like a dream. After he sold it, it used to pass by the house every morning. A few years later, he spotted it for sale again. He promptly persuaded Mam to trade her 1.2 kadett in and got it back. Then I started driving and learnt to drive in the Ascona, passed my test in it. I bought it from them when I needed a car of my own. It pulled the ladies...😀. Then being in my early 20's I sold it to a lad and I moved on from…
