This SR was listed on ebay towards the end of 2006 - I still have the pictures of it on my PC!
  3. Sorry Andy, but that's actually an 'L'. The GL steel wheels had only four slots in them with black centre caps.
  4. We should meet for a cup of tea then - what do you drive mate?

There will always be something on an unroadworthy/unrestorable Mk2 Cavalier that someone will want. If you have the time and storage space, remove everything that's not cracked or broken and advertise them here or on ebay. Most parts are no longer serviced by dealerships and with the newest Mk2 being 18 years old now, parts are gradually going to get more scarce. I myself am building up a little stockpile for my two - just in case!
  6. Yes - that is me. I'm in Hawkinge - a village between Canterbury and Folkestone.
  7. I have a 2005 Vectra SRi 1.9 CDTi 150PS with the optional 19" alloys and I'm really pleased with it. I find it handles great. I have driven several Vectra VXR's which are certainly quick, but on balance the SRi is far better to live with. I average between 45 and 50 mpg and it's got all the torque you'll ever need really.
  8. No Andy - they wouldn't always be shown elsewhere..............
  9. If I find a nice Calibre - I'll buy it. Then I'll have one of the first and one of the last sports Mk2 Cavaliers!
  10. The Cavalier diesel was actually launched in 1982 - first examples were on a 'Y' reg. It was the same engine launched in the Astra at the same time, yet I seem to remember that the Astra had a 5 speed 'box whereas the first Cavalier 'D' s had to make do with the four speed? I'll have to check my brochure archive.......
  11. I would - I'm sure you'll be able to get all the parts you'll need from various sources. Just think about what the 'before and after' pictures will be like and the sense of achievement that will accompany them. As you may know, there were only ever supposed to 100 of the Calibres made, but someone at Luton added an extra '0' by mistake and ordered 1000 bodykits! The decision was therefore made to make 500 cars and have 500 spare bodykits to sell - most of which found their way onto European cars. When my SR is finished next year, I'll probably be looking for one of the very last Calibres to restore (one of the 'F' reg ones.) Then I'll have an example each of the first and last performance Mk2 Cavalier saloons.

Thanks Jason, I believe they were only made for about 10 months between 1981 and 1982. I currently have someone at Vauxhall getting the production stats for me, so I should shortly know exactly how many saloons and hatches were made, as well as the exact build date of my car. I also have enquiries under way with the DVLA as to how many are still registered and how many are still on the road - that will take a bit longer though.
