  1. Looks superb. I have very fond memories of a good friend of mine having one completely identical to yours around 20 years ago. We went everywhere in it. It seemed soooo fast at the time lol! He  cained it everywhere but it just kept going.

Good move. Early Calibres have the same rot problems as early Cavaliers (MK3). Something seems to have changed with GM's paint primers in the summer shutdown in 1992 that seriously improved the car's corrosion resistance from then on. Plus of course, once Cavalier production stopped in Russelheim and its IRS platform moved to Finland in 1995 to continue Calibre production, it then benefited from the part galvanisation already in use there for Boxter convertibles. That is why facelifted versions of both Cavaliers and Calibres in their different ways last much better.

Nothing better than having a beyond economic repair car as a donor. Had a few of them in my time

Donor cars are ace! Got a Vectra C SRi donor in the garage right now mostly nearly stripped!

GreyDJ:. That's exactly the info I was after thank you :). If you have a spare manual yeah I'd be interested. Just let me know what it costs.

Matt:. I sent you text with photos etc.

Steven:. I'll update occasionally as I do a few bits to the car. I'll also get some photos of the brakes when I change them as they are a bit special :)

Thanks mate. I will pick it up when I get home. Just on holiday at the moment and left phone at home. Doh lol!!

Thanks all, I think I know the problem. The drivers seat is a Astra GTE passenger seat as both seats have the side lever and drivers seat forward lever for 3 door rear entry is located in the center console area and typically I have experienced with cars that the passenger seat always sits higher than the drivers. Ahhhh!

Hi Steve. It's not an Astra GTE seat I'm afraid. It is a passenger seat but out of another early SRi. I simply swapped the sub frames over underneath as the original drivers seat was knackered. All the early SRi's even though they were 4 door had the handles to pull the seat forward. Weird as they had back doors.

  7.  Hi Steve. All the settings for the brakes pedal and seat are totally standard settings. If your original Cav was an early spec it would have been exactly the same as my old one. I suppose the only way to change the seats settings is to start altering the mounting points or change the seats completely.
