  1. welcome to the club chris. have a silver cabby just the same, pics on here somewhere in project thread. does the bumper trick consist of a heat gun by any chance? works like a dream! Chris M-- We should get a list going of who has/ is getting V6's fitted, specially in cabbies seen as there much be a few now.
  2. seen as i arn't bringing cav do i just ride in, pay the camping etc and set down behind the prementioned tree line?
  3. alright mate, thats some loyalty to cavs you have there! Calibre kits do look good on the convertibles. I've got a sliver convertible, leaving the outside standard for now but wouldn't mind a kit myself. Leaving the engine a 1.8? got any pics of her?
  4. I was saying that if i didn't have the cav that I'd just pop down for sat and sunday but I'll go have a word with the guys i'm coming down with and see if they are still up for going the friday anyway. Put me down sat/sun for defo and I'll let you know if we are coming on the friday later today.
  5. Can I get added to the list please? Not sure how i stand asking for a pass though cos like i've previously mentioned if i can't bring my cav I'm stocking the volvo with a keg or two as self inflicted forefit and guess i'll be behind that tree line! Should i just leave it and turn up in whatever I can and wing it from there? What time can we get there on friday?
  6. I'll defo be there at some point. It's not looking like cav will be ready in time unfortunatly, keeping fingers crossed though! Not even sure if it's the 1st Cabby with the x25xe in it now, a mate that when to the rain fest that was PVS said there were a couple of V6 cabbies?? For Billing I'll prob have a car full so we will prob help as much as we can when we get there. I guess the only upside of not being in the cav is that I'll be able to get a couple of kegs in the back of the V70!! Cider anyone?!?
  7. Ey up all, just wondering if any one knows about new merchandise from the club coming availible any time soon? If not is the 2006 stuff still ok to order from cafe press? Too many VW mugs at my mates workshop and was hoping to slip in a couple of decent ones! Also, does the site/club need any donations or anything? arn't sure and didn't wanna end up looking like the tight arse of the group!
  8. yeah, carhoods.com are still going, it's £335 for hood and £145 for headliner. total comes to £700 with fitting. getting it sent up to me and they have recommended a company nearer me that can fit it. pricey i guess but fed up of getting a wet head! Will post some pics when new roof is on and she isn't looking so sad!
  9. will keep an eye out for the stand. imagin it won't be hard to miss!
  10. unfortunatly my V6 convi won't be up and running till after santa pod. is anyone goin to billing in july?
  11. Hello everyone, joined the site last year when I bought a Mk2 convertible haven't really been on much due to losing heart with the cav cos it needed some work and didn't have the money to give it what it needs. Anywho, an injection of cash and new found enthusiasm has spurred me on to get cracking restoring the old girl. Unfortunately for you guys it means I am gonna try and squeeze as much information and maybe even some spare parts here and there as I can. Never been a huge fan of the Mk2 cavalier until I saw my 1st convertible one which I ended up buying the next day. All I've really got round to doing so far (apart from SORNing it) was installing some leather interior. Oh, and fixing both sills, sorting out the mild sagging the centre of the car was experiencing and welding up the hole in the floor that the previous owner failed to mention (my own fault for not looking underneath I guess but it wouldn't have stopped me buying her). Am desperate for a new hood and head lining as at the moment the car may aswell not have a roof on at all unless the collender look is in this season. Any Ideas where the best place to get a new roof from and do they come with hinges/brackets/mechanism etc? The second bit of help I need is with the engine. Do I keep it original or go for a conversion? I like the idea of keeping it true to the car and relatively standard although there is that wee guy sat on my shoulder telling me speed i matters! Has anyone got any thoughts on what the best way to faff with the 1.8 8v? Have got a spare set of bike carbs kicking about that my find there way on the engine via a new intake manifold. I'm not totally against a C20LET engine but they are becoming a bit cliche these days, plus they seem to be holding their money at the moment. A C25XE engine has also passed through my train of thought recently. As I understand there are only a couple of Mk2's with v6’s in so the rarity of that is appealing. And I thought that maybe a supercharged v6 would make it an original conversion for the Mk2, especially in a convertible. So as you can see am finding it hard to make a decision on what to do. Most of my friends arn’t really a big fan of the car itself (blasphemers i know) so arn’t really being a big help, but i figure seen as all of you on Mk2cav.com are enthusiasts and fans of the car you will have some advice and opinions which I can use to make my Mk2 appeal to the people that really appreciate the car. Thanks for reading and for any help etc you can give regarding the roof, engine ideas etc. Rog

    Morning all

Well I've done it, went and bought the cav. Firstly a big thanks to jonhhy for selling his pride and joy, i know how hard it was to say good bye. And secondly damn you North Yorkshire police for stopping me in the damn thing and doing me on all fronts for no insurance 3 miles from home!! So am sad to say that my 1st experiance of the MK2 cav is full bore wanky pants! hey, it can only get better. Gonna source myself an MV6 engine and an Eaton supercharger and go chase down some T-5's. Oh, and 3rd, thanks in advance to the recovery company that are gonna screw me £130 to get my car back tomorrow. Am not bitter, just fooking disapointed at myself for not talking the black number plates off it!! Who needs those extra 6 points, i hear they are ment for sunday drivers anyway.

    Morning all

Now then all. I have joined the site prematurly am affraid. Am going to see a MK2 convertible tomorrow and fingers crossed I will be returning home with it. Am sure I will have lots of questions for you all to look forward to answering in the near future. While i've got your attention, has anyone put/or got a V6 in a MK2? It's just an idea myself and a friend had a while ago when in an enlighted state and we have been planning it ever since. I arn't intending to butcher the MK2 (if/WHEN i get it) stright away, partly in fear of committing sacrilege and partly because i wanna enjoy the car for what it is for a while. Anywho, happy cavving for all and hopfully i will be a MK2 owner by this time tomorrow.
