  1. Would have been a great car now if I could have found the right shell, to say I'm gutted is an understatement :'(
  2. Sorry about the lack of updates, not even had a chance to look at the car, it's stripped out just now and the shell is ready for the scrappy I've been let down with 3 different shells, 2 of which were rotten and the 1 minter I did find the seller bumped his price up at the last second so that fell through as well I've lost all motivation because of this, was really looking forward to getting stuck into it as well. Looks like I'm going to sell the parts of the car and I might give away the identity of the car to any serious MK2 enthusiast! (I know I'm in the right place ) I may even sell it as a whole for the right offer, ideally again I would like to see it back on the road.
  3. Done enough welding in my time mate, I know frome experience there's no point. Once the car's rotten to a certain point it's never the same again. Re-shell time, I was in contact with a gent about a mint shell but he randomly changed his price so I told him where to go, if you see a decent one though let me know!
  4. Thing is if it was just the boot floor then I would get one from a MK3 Cavalier or similar, but it's through to the rear chassis legs and the inner sills all the way through the car! I drear to see the bulkhead behind the dash and sound deadening
  5. On the trailer tonight! Forget the steelie I had to fit it as after 11 years the tyres weren't so keen on staying up [img width=640 height=480]http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q291/Calibra_se8/Cavalier%20SRI%20130/DSC01044.jpg [img width=640 height=480]http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q291/Calibra_se8/Cavalier%20SRI%20130/DSC01047.jpg Back home where the stripping began [img width=640 height=480]http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q291/Calibra_se8/Cavalier%20SRI%20130/DSC01052.jpg [img width=640 height=480]http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q291/Calibra_se8/Cavalier%20SRI%20130/DSC01053.jpg Boot [img width=640 height=480]http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q291/Calibra_se8/Cavalier%20SRI%20130/DSC01055.jpg Inner sills [img width=640 height=480]http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q291/Calibra_se8/Cavalier%20SRI%20130/DSC01054.jpg Oh dear :'(
  6. Don't worry yourself mate, I'm fully aware of their rarity
  7. Lol sorry the engine has strong compression
  8. P.S apologies for the spelling, I'm on my girlfriends laptop with my fat fingers!
  9. Thanks everyone I went back today to get it ready to be transported on Monday, had a good look over it this tiem and I don' think this shell is saveable, of the many cars I've owned this thing is extremely rusty, beyond repair I reckon. Here's just a few pics: [img width=640 height=480]http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q291/Calibra_se8/Cavalier%20SRI%20130/DSC01038.jpg [img width=640 height=480]http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q291/Calibra_se8/Cavalier%20SRI%20130/DSC01039.jpg The rust list so far after a quick gander today: Both inner and outer sills Both front strut tops Fuel filler neck is non-existant Sunroof Rear Inner Arches Boot floor is completely gone Chassis legs feel soft as well. All in all a pretty decent list! On the plus side the engine seems like a cracker, ooks very clean inside and turns ove with lost of compression 8) [img width=640 height=480]http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q291/Calibra_se8/Cavalier%20SRI%20130/DSC01037.jpg Still love the damn thing though :-X [img width=640 height=480]http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q291/Calibra_se8/Cavalier%20SRI%20130/DSC01040.jpg [img width=640 height=480]http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q291/Calibra_se8/Cavalier%20SRI%20130/DSC01041.jpg

    a Brazilian

Looks like an excellent example you have there 8)
  11. I get it home next weekend hopefully, first job is strip it bare and assess the damage ???
  12. Cheers Matt-O I think the SRI 130 has a few furry friends as well lol! They're probably living in the sills after moving from the boot because it became draughty
  13. Loving that mate! The guy at the local scrappy who sold me the car said the owner took the car off the road in 1999 to do a few 'minor' welding repairs lol. The whole car is stupidly original, probably like the ascona it's a total time warp, smells a bit mind you ;D
  14. Aye it'll need a new boot floor and probably more, I'm trying to look for a base-spec scrapper with better underneath than this one as the body on this one is smart enough (a bit pink )
  15. HI fowks I'm Phil and I've just picked up this genuine barn find, been off the road for 11 years! [img width=640 height=480]http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q291/Calibra_se8/Cavalier%20SRI%20130/DSC01028.jpg [img width=640 height=480]http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q291/Calibra_se8/Cavalier%20SRI%20130/DSC01823.jpg She's properly rotten so a re-shell could be the only way forward I think [img width=640 height=480]http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q291/Calibra_se8/Cavalier%20SRI%20130/DSC01820.jpg Looking forward to getting stuck in here 8)
