  1. Has been a busy year! GT was laid up for 6 months.

Any plans to come to France this year?

See if this link works by copy and pasting.

After a six month contract in the UK this summer I'm back in the Dordogne and training to become a panel beater, accident repair blokey. What I've always wanted to do really.

So the Opel's going to get a new wheel arch replacement panel on passenger side and integral paint job hopefully in the new year. At least I'll be able to do it properly with help from colleagues. There's a chance I can take it to the college and work on it as part of my course so the small dents in the door I'll be able to work out with mallet and dolly set and the sills with the dent puller. Jobs are so much easier if you have the right tools. Really looking forward to getting it painted professionally.

Rear silencer and electric window commands are on my xmas wish list. Silencer I've sourced but the central e window commands are proving illusive.

    Good health, enjoy xmas.

    Cheers, Rich.

France in 2016 definitely a possibility for us, would be great to organise soemthing like 2014 again too! A long way to come for a re-spray though ;)

She's in the Paint shop!!! Well excited!! Primed her today. Managed to form new inner and outer wheel arches which took hours of head scratching and a few scrapped attempts. But the result's gonna be bang on. Hope to post some photo's in the coming weeks.

If anyone's interested to see what's available in France. This is the site I use over here the most. There are some solid Opel Ascona's about and even 2 x 1600 diesels although they are on some French colonial island.  I quite fancy the 2.0LS but the paint for the GT just cleaned me out. I'd be happy to help if anyone wants a decent, unwelded body or parts car.

Andy, It'd be great to see a MK2 troop down here. I know the area well and could get some decent prices on digs and know all the places to eat and drink, visit etc...In fact, if you're happy under canvas then you could camp here.  If you're an alcoholic, come, if you're a vegetarian, don't! Just kidding!

      Keep 'em rollin'

      Rich.

Can't believe 5 of you were in Bergerac. It's down the road. Thanks for all the replies. Do I have to put photo's on to something like photobucket first? Need some help here please. Cheers, Rich.

    Ascona GT 130

Hello, I live in the Dordogne in SW france and bought an LHD Opel Ascona GT 130 in September '12. I use the car regularly as it was MOT'd when I bought it - 2 years mot in france. It has had it's problems. Fuel pump relay, and just this last week lumpy idling and hesitation under acceleration. It has just had new bosch ventilated discs, pads and a set of softer compound tyres. The michelin energy savers I bought it with were useless. This has changed the car. I love it and despite my recent frustrations will continue to learn through the haynes on how to maintain and cherish this car. It's a two owner car, I'm the 3rd. Has 174,000kms on it. Original bill of sale and loads of bills. Would like to share some photo's with you all. And equally would like to see a 'debarquement' of mk2 cavs in the south of france at some point. Such and odd ball car to see here compared to holland and germany where they were also very popular. Great car!
