  3. This is the gathering information on who is coming thread. As in previous years please do not amend the initial master summary post. Please add your own post with the information requested and a Mod will add it to the master list before deleting it. Again, do not put chat here as it will be deleted. Put it in the chat thread. VBOA want to know 1. How many vehicles on the stand per day. We want to know how many are Mk2 Cavaliers and how many are others, Vauxhall or not. 2. How many tents and their approx size e.g. 2, 3 , 4 person etc 3. Any caravans/motorhomes/trailers if any, as space may be limited. So, when you say you are coming please state - name (handle and real), what car, which day(s) - if overnight your tent size (people capacity), motorhome, caravan etc Thanks
  4. Hi Mark, welcome to the Forum. Where are you?
  5. Thread now live. This year is the 40th anniversary of our Cavalier's introduction. Yes, and it doesn't seem long since the 30th does it? We got over 30 then, how close to 40 can we get this year?

    I'm back

In some ways Cavalier ownership needs to be seen as an addiction. A decent SRi is probably around £5k.
  7. Its the Gen GM battery tray test tool.
  8. Welcome to the site Kieran. We need 'before' photos John
  9. Good to see you around. From another Cavweb oldie
  10. VBOA meeting this morning announced that the show is still on. Subject to Government guidelines etc.
  11. Sounds a plan. Shouldn't be seized unless the water has gone. I'd take the plugs out and see if it turns by hand, if it does put a battery on and see. You could be pleasantly surprised, the tappets will rattle a bit before the oil gets up properly. Could put a smile on your face, at that mileage the engine/gearbox shouldn't need rebuilding. Are you going to upgrade the front brakes with the 256mm 2.0 Mk3 brakes? Its the best and easiest mod on the car.
  12. Given its mileage and where its been there is a very good chance its in good nick underneath. I'm with Greg on this, before you start restoring it get it going and put it through an MoT test. If you let you daughter do much of the work, firing it up and passing the test will give her a huge boost at the start of the project. Rather than just facing an endless stream of jobs with no idea of what will be the end result. She will then experience the Cavalier happiness bubble that it generates in most people who see one on the road.
  13. Welcome to our very long term home You look to be a real Vauxhall enthusiast. Good luck.
  14. Welcome to the Club, good to see another Ascona, especially a 2 door with an XE. Do you need a pair of UK spec headlights?
  15. Just had an update from VBOA. Working on the basis that we hope to be getting back to normal by then, VBOA are are going back to Sywell Aerodrome for the VBOA Rally on the 2nd to the 4th July.. They have listened and learnt lots from the 2019 event and plan to build from that to deliver another show that we as an association and community can be proud of! Details of activities/vendors etc will updated as and when we secure them. All camping, hotel, day and other tickets that were carried over from this year are valid. Hotel rooms at the Aviator hotel onsite will be a first come first served basis. More details as I get them.

What is happening? Two new owners from Australia in a couple of months, but you are a long way apart! Welcome to the site, nice looking car that seems to have handled your climate rather well.

    Hello again

Pretty well thanks, got a couple of cancers but they seem to be slow, hopefully I will die with not of them. Down to just one Mk2, a Mk3 CDi and my old Mk3 SRi. Sold my original red Calibra last year so just the three Vauxhalls. Oh plus the Mk2 Jag still not moved from its lair and my daily S3 saloon. Decent Cavs seem to have shot up in value over the past couple of years. Perhaps the onslaught of unemployment hitting us now and the near future will have an impact. Now may well turn out to be a very good time to sell at what may be peak prices. A bit like the classic car market in the early 90s.

    Hello again

Hi Abo Good to hear from you again. Hope you are well. John
  19. You can swap the front seats, but not the runners, over if you want to extend seat life. This way you can even up the wear but the runners/seatbelt fixings are specific to side. If you do this there is a sneaky plastic rivit in the middle of the plastic side panel, just pop it and make sure you keep it for reassembly.

Vauxhall Bedford Opel Association annual show. Used to be at Billing but is now the other (your) side of Northampton at Sywell airfield. I would think we'll get 20 Mk2s there next year.

That looks really nice. You put a lot of work into it. You clearly know what you are doing. Is the red cable across the back for audio system? How did you find us?
