  1. Looking ahead to this. I have the BBQ and gas sorted which is plenty big enough to cater for everyone so I will be bringing that with me. Tony is working on the stickers now with the aim to have both general mk2cav member window stickers and show attendance stickers available. We will have a proper shelter in case the rain returns or we just need a sun shade (fingers crossed). We'll have this in the next few weeks. Andy is finishing up a club rebrand including a new logo that will be incorporated into merch and banners. So we'll have hoodies, t-shirts etc available before the show. For the BBQ there will need to be a charge. Thinking £10 per adult and £5 per child? This should give us enough scope to put on a good spread (burgers, sausages, baked spuds, corn, some salad etc) Thoughts and input welcome folks. I don't think I've missed any of the major stuff we've been missing over the past few years.
  2. Good stuff John. We've some planning to do in the new year to bring the stand upto the level we had before so the weekend works better whatever the weather does. I think pretty much everything we spoke about this year can be in place for next years show.
  3. Have they done the layout yet John? Is there a map?
  4. Any F16 with the top gearbox mount holes will work. F18s and F20s will also fit if you're able to make a rear mount to suit
  5. The way the VBOA have handled this has been appalling. Newbody you're not alone in your feeling. I will say that neither options for billing were suitable for various reasons and to be fair the new venue looks good.
  6. Basically option 1 with camping beside the cars then
  7. ONLY THE VOTES OF CLUB MEMBERS WILL BE COUNTED OPTION 1 Billing run administration This is administratively similar to the 'old' way of running things. Booking through Billing with pricing much as before. Gate control and security by Billing. However that is where the similarity stops as operationally it is quite different in that there will be a vehicle only 'show' area, effectively the central block of the site with Mk2Cav old area top right. This will be divided up as now by VBOA into club areas where our cars will be during the day. This is about 21 acres. Camping will be in the surrounding blocks which have been divided up by Billing into pitches, with and without electricity. Unless left there overnight, cars will need to be moved into the show area each morning. The Autojumble will be in the same place as before and selling from a car boot on a stand will not be allowed. This could be a very different show experience to that which we have been used to. If this option is selected, VBOA will, as soon as possible, notify clubs which pitch numbers are closest to their area so that members can purchase those pitches. Bear in mind that there may be unrelated members of the public nearby or even potentially in the area so early booking is vital to maintain a club's contiguous area. Definitely advisable to book by the end of the year. OPTION 2 VBOA and Club run administration In exchange for an advance payment by VBOA, funded by its member clubs, Billing will rent the exclusive use of the whole of the central block plus surrounding camping areas which we can use the totality of as a car/camping area. This is about 27 acres as against our approx 29 acres at Market Harborough'. The rental period is Friday to Monday inclusive to VBOA for £35,000, paid in 4 instalments by the start of April. On top of that there will be some VBOA admin costs plus potential extra event costs like funding of gate control and some security so say £40,000 in round numbers. Then, dividing that total by the total number of spaces requested by the clubs the VBOA gets a price per space to allocate back to the clubs as per their request. That will then be the amount that the clubs will HAVE to pay VBOA on very tight advance schedule. As the first payment is due on signing the agreement, giving the clubs virtually no chance to collect their contributions, VBOA will lend out of its reserves that first payment recovering it from the clubs. This is a huge change as it imposes financial risks and a new workload on both VBOA and clubs. Once we have committed to the space we will be on the hook for the money and we will have to chip in with some volunteer support , both should be interesting! There is however the potential for cost savings since we will be effectively getting the wholesale price for our area and we will have flexibility as to how we recover that cost. My estimate is that the raw VBOA space cost to a club will be around £40/50 per car/tent for the 4 days. We will then need to add our costs and work out how to spread the total over campers and day visitors. Due to this, whilst there will be probably be a VBOA RRP, it is likely that clubs will have different price lists for their members. However, whichever way you look at it it should be cheaper than Option 1. We have to work on the basis of paying 50% by end December, 40% end January and 10% end March. As before you have to be a member to be on our stand and to gain our pricing.
  8. What is the general feeling over on astramk2? My all accounts it wasn't a close race between Billing and MH

We always try to help people here be that advice or sourcing parts etc and yes we do this for free for the most part but keeping the forum running as well as insurances all costs money and it's memberships that pay for it. It's not as if we are suddenly going to stop helping non members, we're just not like that but do you think the help offered is worth helping us keep the lights on Membership allows you access to post in certain parts of the forum and also allows you to attend shows like the VBOA which really is where this club really shows that we really have something other clubs strive for.

    Firsts.

I see the current black one every day since it was moved outside the workshop to make way for an Astra F GL

    Firsts.

I actually found a picture of my first cav the other day, it was an 88 Ascona Sprint in starmist black
  12. We're going to have to give this weekend a miss folks. Clara is 12 weeks now and very ill; I was going to come on my own but last weekend she was admitted to hospital. They're both ok but she's not traveling and it's not the time to leave her on her own with the little lunatic. Flights etc all paid for too!
  13. How to wash your vagina more like
  14. Thanks for the info John. To be honest I think us collecting the ticket money ourselves would be a good idea, it would put an end to the flakey "I might turn up" nonsense we saw this year where we had very little idea of how many were going to turn up. Does anyone have any knowledge of the possible alternatives?
  15. It's on the aquadrome fb page so I suppose it's true.
  16. Can't wait to see what delights hertz have to offer
  17. Flights, rental and hotel booked. By jaysus it's like 2008 again
  18. Mid to late November. December always turns into a ball of shite leading up to Christmas
  19. Other clubs may use it as a recruitment drive and go round handing out fliers, have a manned info desk, have a gatehouse but we are not them. What we do best is have a good laugh with anyone who wants to join us and tbh thats why people keep coming. People turn up with a cav, without a cav, with other vauxhalls on other stands then spend the weekend having a laugh with us because of the community we have. You have to get at least somewhat involved to see any of that but once you do you'll realise what I'm talking about.
  20. So before we start on about what was wrong with billing did anyone who attended with us not enjoy themselves? We had a good time, anyone I spoke to had a good time and 25 cars is about average for us (remembering that we are a one model club) We do need a bit more organisation for next year but overall once we have a decent number attending (which I think we did) and they have a good time I think the show is a success. To me Billing is a chance for members new and old to meet and have a good laugh, talk shite about cavs and have a look at what others have done. It's not a recruitment drive so I don't want a table with banners and people handing out fliers nor do I want a little gatehouse gazebo for when people arrive like the manta club had.
  21. Billing weng well mate, great laugh had by all. You could fry eggs on the road and everyone stuffed their faces at the bbq. Andy took some video with his fancy camera which I'm sure he'll put up when he gets a chance. We need bunting, lights and the other gazebo. Good times.
  22. Some randomer rolled a vw at 2 or 3 am out by the gate, nothing at all to do with the vboa show as far as I'm aware.
