  • Autobiography I will try not to miss too much out but I bought this about 18 months ago so bear with me. Here are the few photos I have of Kev when I bought him. He was in a scrap yard in Kent having failed its MOT in November 2016. It was a 1 owner car with less than 25,000 miles on the clock and I fell in love with it instantly. I got it MOT'd and picked it up and my first reaction upon seeing it in the metal was one of disappointment as the ebay listing I had bought it from had not said anything about the interior and there were only outside photos. I had expected the interior of a car with this sort of mileage to be pretty good but sadly not. I contacted the previous owner after tracking them down with the V5 and we chatted for a good half hour. It had been replaced at about 15 years old with a Corsa and therefore relegated to trips to the tip or garden center and not been overly cared for since that time. It had mostly done short journeys which had worn out the carpets and the drivers seat bolster plus the dash and all the plastic of the door cards was very cracked from sitting in the sun at the same angle. Also, it had been broken into and the glove box door no longer shut and the parcel shelf supports had given way and no longer supported the parcel shelf. Plus the aerial had been snapped off by vandals. Not a great start to my ownership. That said, driving it was great and despite the obvious rust/patina, it turned out to be a very solid car. First things I did were service and cambelt/waterpump change, lowered suspension, Mk3 Cav front seats and some 14" steelies sprayed matt black with red band tyres. I also added a roof rack I had had on my '79 Passat and my Nova saloon and rolled it like that for a while. The first 5 photos were from the ebay listing, the others are mine.
