  1. Now then all. I have joined the site prematurly am affraid. Am going to see a MK2 convertible tomorrow and fingers crossed I will be returning home with it. Am sure I will have lots of questions for you all to look forward to answering in the near future.

While i've got your attention, has anyone put/or got a V6 in a MK2? It's just an idea myself and a friend had a while ago when in an enlighted state and we have been planning it ever since.

I arn't intending to butcher the MK2 (if/WHEN i get it) stright away, partly in fear of committing sacrilege and partly because i wanna enjoy the car for what it is for a while. Anywho, happy cavving for all and hopfully i will be a MK2 owner by this time tomorrow.

Which mk2 convertible were you going to see? Was it the one with the calibre kit, white one ?

  2. The way i see it you have 3 choices.

    1. Keep it join the club and gain from the benefit of our friendly helpful members.

    2. If you realy want it to be preserved but by someone else then name your price and let someone here fix it and show it.

3 If you want to make a fast buck stick it in adtader or ebay.

Id like to see it in the club, either under your ownership or one of the other members.

    Cheers

    John

  3. In the 1980's DIY took off and so did hatchbacks, what better way to pick up your supplies than in a hatchback or estate. There practicality made them more popular.

My preference is still the saloon though, but I have 2 saloons a hatchback and an estate so got the best of all worlds.

  4. Hello m8,

I am south of glasgow, got 2 mk2's at the moment, a calibre and an early red hatch. I picked my car up at the station last night coming home form work and there was a very nice red cReg early mk2 convertible parked right behind me, going to leave him a note next week.

Good to see theres a scottish contingency now :)

  5. As for Calibres they are not only hard to come by these days but also good ones are like hens teeth, by that i mean original arches, interior etc. again prices of Calibres will be anything between £1000/£1500

Think you underestimated that a bit there m8 ;)

  6. I know a lot of folk are dropping petrol 16v reds in there cars but has anyone thought of dropping in a modern Turbo direct injection into a MK2. 150BHP out of a modern unit, 50MPG and all that torque you could ever need. Shoot me down but must be worth a look at £1+ for fuel within the month.

A non standard mk2 cav, cant beleive you suggested that ;)
