    Mk1 Vectra

I've got both, Cav CD and Vectra CDX. My V6 Vectra is currently at Courtenays having the final parts of some head work and downpipes done so at the moment I'm running the Cav as my daily drive again. I really enjoy having the old Cav on the road, it's a great drive, runs nice and produces the noises, creaks, rattles and thunks that only an old car can. It's utterly comfortable too. The Vectra is far quicker but has the modern "eco" power delivery that a chip made better but still noticable. It's great to have climate control (albeit a bit weedy) and cruise which I use all the time. The leather is far from sumptuous and as Chutney said above, the seats are a bit hard. I wouldn't describe either cars as dynamic but they are both sincere, reliable and dependable and both return in the early 30's mpg under normal driving. If I was going for a hack and some fun then I'd reach for the Cav's keys every time.

    insurance

Just renewed mine today. Had a renewal policy from Adrian Flux for £468.50!!!!! (being a photographer by trade it tends to double things like insurance but even so, 36 years old, no accidents or convictions, rural post code, garaged, limited mileage - it still fell into the "no way" category. Swapped it over to a classic car policy and is now £148. Now that pill I can swallow
  3. Not quite cool, possibly cold with damp bits. Like me, the body needs some attention.
  4. Oh good grief no. 1.8 Blydenstein head, 2.0 bottom end. Torque Developments cam, koni's all round, Ashley 4-2-1 exhaust manifold, scorpion system, 16v brakes, strut brace, twonk behind the wheel. About 140bhp but of course I need a rolling road session with witnesses to prove it. Not bad for 190k ;D Fletch
  5. Ok, thanks guys. Well to coin a phrase, the cheques in the post Fletch
  6. Thanks. Where do I go to start and post the journal? Fletch
  7. Suppose I'd better say Hi. Proud to say I've owned my Mk2 Cav CDi for half my life so it's sort of grew up with me. As we've both aged, both of our body work has fallen into disrepair but at 192k it's just about run in. The Cav has been sitting in my garage for the last 3 years but over the last 6 months has been fired up to get it back on the road again and it's now swapped places with my other motor to become my daily driver for the time being (mainly due to the grin factor.) The big plan is to do a Nurburgring trip this year along with a few of my mates but first off is a few track day sessions for a shake down. First track day is next Friday week on March 3rd at Snetterton (anyone else want to come?) Fletch
