bloody 'ell guys i forgot about this thread. i took it back on carbs and it made 177bhp running a little rich midrange and very rich at 5200rpm up. if i set the cams up and set the carbs up then the rolling road reckon its an easy 185bhp engine. trouble is its about 2-5hours on the rollers and i dont want to pay £80 per hour id rather put the money into fiting the engine in the mx5 and use the power thats there, plus the rings need doing as its a bit smoky around 4000rpm upwards, well its like a two stroke if im being honest! its a strong engine even if its a bit smoky so im going to fit rings and have it for the mx5 the cav is defo coming off the road end of september and im going to fit the turbo engine over the winter, its meant to be 240bhp and if its less ill dump the piggy back ecu, get a better turbo, injectors etc and get an emerald ecu and take it closer to 300+ or sell it and fit a 1600cc small block and hide all the wires and flush all the engine bay PROPER tartish i know but i love the golfs and corsa when they do it.
