  1. I always found that car to be deceptively fast. Obviously 115hp is not massive, but it seemed to have far more mid-range torque than was strictly necessary  >:D

Was also just about the best long-distance vehicle I've driven. 600 miles in a day? No problem. It also had the most sensible heater design and one of the most ergonomic dashboards I've ever used. The column stalks with the little recess for two fingers? Brilliant. Also, no power steering, and it doesn't need it. Feeling the road FTW.

    Just as a little addendum, I've also had a '90 MK3 2.0GLi. Nice enough, but I preferred the MK2.

Yep the 20NE (115bhp) is almost as torquey as the SEH and always pulls hard. Mind you one of my main little irritations with the mk2's heater controls is that the sliders are on the wrong side for a RHD car so you have to reach across to get them-I don't see why it wasn't till the Nova and mk2 Astra/Carlton that Vauxhall started putting them on the driver's side.

I've always thought that the high spec, non sporty models are somewhat unfairly overlooked at times, most people sees to be either into the SRis or more recently early base/L  models.
