  1. Going to get the Mk2 Cav out out of the back of the garage and use it. It's been 9 years and I've decided it time!. Went to billing this year and looked around the MK2 Cavs lined up. Daz's SRi looked as good as it gets, beautful standard car, couple of CDi's which looked really nice, and a nice white standard base saloon which impressed me because you don't see them do you! Been reading the talk on MK2 SRi values. They always were a mega beautful car, it's taken a bit longer for the chaps who had them new as company cars to remember them and go looking for them. 1979 Austin Maxi went for over 1k last month on ebay so Mk2 SRi's are defo worth it for a good one. I quite like the red SRi on ebay at the moment but cannot decide if it is genuine or not?

    My Ascona C

At least this time of year in Norway, with 23 hours of darkness there's nothing else to do than go in the garage and get the car ready for spring in July. I think they stop salting the roads between July 20th and Aug 1st ;D ;D
  3. There's always one isnt there ;D ;D. Looks immaculate makes you sick don't it.
  4. Been to Tenerife for two weeks. Spotted 8 mk2 Cavs (Ascona's) all absolutely immaculate apart from a couple with door dents. All of them were saloons GT's, GL's and one modified beauty. Yes coming from Mr Standard it's hard to believe Im saying it. Why no Hatchbacks does anyone have any idea. Wish I could bring a left hooker back and convert to right hand drive.
  5. Just started to break MK3 Cavalier Diplomat 1993 2.0 8v with Cat. Is it the 116BHP or will it have the 130bhp SEH engine fitted.

    Mk1 Vectra

Bought a 1997 1.8 LS vectra today as a cheap runner, not as bad as I thought. Drives ok, looks ok, fuel consumption ok, why did it get such a shi# road test when it first came out. ??? Anyone else got anything nice to say about the the thing called "Vectra" or Should GM of kept the MK2 Cavalier in production
  7. Agreed, keep it very standard, would be nice to see a standard late immaculate Mk2 Cav on a club stand.
  8. Thanks for the info SR16, off to test drive one and possibly put one in the garage
  9. Thats what I have heard not good around corners! Are we talking MORRIS MARINA cornering here
  10. Hi casper nice to here from you again. Possibly only got a budget of £17000 and wife say's a few cars have to go. Corsair and possibly the MK3 SRi which has not seen daylight since 96, but we are working on that one :'( Probably call her bluff! and stall! for a couple of years until she forgets
  11. Been looking at the new vectra sri 1.9 or 2.2. Keeping the old MK2 Cav for special days. Anyone got one or knows how good they are compared to the mondeo (sorry) but it is a really good car shame it's a ford. Info and views would be welcome
  12. I know a lot of folk are dropping petrol 16v reds in there cars but has anyone thought of dropping in a modern Turbo direct injection into a MK2. 150BHP out of a modern unit, 50MPG and all that torque you could ever need. Shoot me down but must be worth a look at £1+ for fuel within the month.
  13. Think I keep dads tapes in the car :-X on second thoughts Jim Reeves! (who the fu## is Jim Reeves) its defo out the window. In comes "Haircut 100" and love plus one---Remember this anyone
  14. Yes your right if I put a after market sound box into it then where would it end! the next step would be an amp in the boot and blue neon windscreen wiper water jets sticking out of the bonnet
  15. Don't honestly Know It must come out soon so I can get the side painted in original solvent based paint before everyone goes to using water based paint. Why does water based paint not come off when it rains? The wife's mascara run's every time when I come back with another car ;D. When I get the GTE Manta finished it will defo come out. The main problem is it is at the back of the garage behind 2 other cars but I will have a shift around. It was out in the drive last summer for an hour, started ok after a long HT leads off crank. Should I keep the original sound box in it or put a 10 stack system sony box in it out of the MK3 which is going to be broken this weekend
  16. Wond'nt it have been fun to swap the No plates around when the owner's were off looking at the Vauxhall viva stand ;D
  17. Don't forget the 21in alloys Not saying anymore
  18. Now thats service!! An answer in 5 minutes must have a drive in one, anyone taking one to billing this year? You could set off tomorrow ;D and get there in time
  19. I think I can remember a production MK2 oil burner. Am I right. I think they came out at the end of production around the E plate. Am I right again? Do we have any in the club? must be rare I would of thought. Not completely sure on this one. ??? Expert help on the subject please.
  20. How many survive. It is a very nice photogragh of a very fine limited edition motor car. Absolutly fab 8) 8)
  21. Hi Chris see you finally made it. Wot's been happening on the mk2 Cav since we last had a chat. There is a mk2 in a scrappy near me, I will get you the side trim off the drivers door. Do you need anything else while I am there The wheel trims we spoke about were flat silver plastic, A bit more up market than the L versions. Someone in the club might have a set somewhere. A cheap option for a short while would be to fit some off a mk3 Cav. "not from a multi story car park either ;D ;D at least it would tidy the wheels up before you alloy wheel it. I have a set of Manta Gte alloys you can have does anyone Know if they will fit? I Know the PCD is correct but will thy catch on the front struts

    How do!

WELCOME to the club, you now own the best car of it's class for it't period . ??? That sounds crap dosn't it ;D, well you know what I mean. Enjoy one of GM's gems.
  23. Nephew has contacted me and informs me that MK2 Cav is up and running on all 4. I think it was the petrol pipe from the pump to the carb which was had gone soft. Everytime the car was rev'ed up the suction squashed the pipe hence starving the carb of the motion lotion. Thanks for all your help folks on the issue and it looks like a mk2 will be saved. ;D ;D I wonder when I will get the phone call to go over to Birmingham for the weekend and do the welding  I will get him to mail me some pics of the Cav and show you the beast.
  24. He has put new fuel into the car 1/2 a tank full he reckons. He tells me the car will now tick over, but will not rev. Sounds like fuel starvation, I have told him to check for an inline fuel filter that could be blocked and to check th filter in the mechanical fuel pump. At least he has got it running and he is determined to get it on the road. I immagine it will end up with bigger wheels and a cannon exhaust, and a boot full of speckers and amp 8). The joys of youth ;D ;D
  25. My young nephew had his 52 plate Rover 25 stolen recently. He has always liked MK2 Cavalier's since he was a small boy when his grandad had a LX (Mine Now). Anyway he has been practically given a Mk2 E plate 1.6 GL Hatchback which has been parked at his work place for over a year. He described the car as standard with a tidy body except for one rear arch, and some small holes in the rear sill area, All common areas you would agree. His problem is that he can not get it started, it will run for a while (roughly) and cut out. He has changed the plugs and leads and Disy cap. The car ran perfectly before it was laid up. He needs a Manual and maybe a Carb, but not sure. He lives in Halesowen Birmingham, He is going to join the club if he can get the car running. I there any member in the area who can give him a help to get it running so he can get it MOTed and back to his house so he can work on it.
