  1. Ian Glass of Haddington - where my cav came from - and they even had my mums signature on the docs when we went up there to investigate last year! (Check out my feature - due for big update when I get the chance!)
  2. The colour hte way it is is awesome allready ;D
  3. post some up now so we can see before and after!
  4. I've seen it driving about, a bit of a weird one as the chap ont he phone seemed keen enough to sell it, so I asked him for some pictures of it... nothing so far, and he says it doesnt want much if anything for the mot, but it has lapsed now, so needs a new test. Seemed pretty solid from what i remember tho.
  5. yup, used to pass it parked up at burger vans, so id expect to see the bolster warn a bit. It needed arches, but seems good price for a 130 saloon. If anyone wanted the e-state then I'd take a nosey!

    Hello

End of the day if that engine is fitted correctly it feels as if it could have come off the production line in there. If it was a once in a lifetime car id be up in arms once upon a time, but if your only going to own one mk2, and it's not an SRi I think fair enough. What about an SEH?

    Hello

Nice find there mate ;D Welcome aboard, you did well for that price there mate. There are plenty of people here to help you with advice tips etc... would be great to keep her looking standardish from the outside for the shows etc.. this year!

    hello all!!

Hi mate, following our chat the other day have you had nay chance taking pics etc.. of the car yet? Email them to me at andy@mk2cav.com
  9. Sparkley new as pod says would make it feel "special" but buying new shocks and springs from an SRi would make it feel more familular. Also put some bigger wheels on it, perhaps the 15" mk3 cav wheels. It would look standard but give you a more stable roadholding. Just af ew ideas, but you don't really say what you dont enjoy. Defo dont modify the trim level, you will never get round to putting it back.

    CAV L

those reinforced bumper linings are pretty tough though, gotta be the worst state cav I've seen for a long time!

    CAV L

looks like it had an accident many years ago and was kept " to put back on the road " and never was! Apart from the arches it's rusted most where teh accident took the paint off!
  13. hopefully john will have added your details to the database allready! As for joining the club...

    mk2 cav 1.6 L F-reg

sounds like you shuld clean it up (if eneds) and show it completely standard cxondition at shows like the NEC classic car show etc...!
  15. we drove the vxr vectra and its the fastest ive ever been on *cough* "test track" ever. the car is fantastic for what it is, feels supple too - feels as energetic as the VXR Astra does too, but then again people hated on them too. Personally if you can do the MPG id still recomend them, think of it more like a futuristic omega with all the toys and more power tahn , well anything else on the roads for the money....
  16. dougie is the one to ask, he will have driven them all at launch!
  17. can someone send me high quaity scans of the Rolling road feature? Forgot how well it came out!

    Hello to all...

Ireplied to this thread earlier!? hmmmn... maybe someone thought my drooling over a 3door hatch in black being imported too explicit a nature for the site!! Anyways welcome!
  20. yup, i did, but I wouldnt expect any main events terribly close to you for now! The events we do seem go to have the fun of a convoy to them, where you meet up with others and make a big long line of cavvys! If you only pop to one event this year I'd recommend billing - you can see its planning it underway now - should be fantastic!
  21. The diffence in parts you have had in the past is because you have an early spec car - running the early brakes etc..etc.. I rmemeber there were occasional parts shortages where bits had to be ordered from abroad etc..

    insurance

    did you try HIC?
  23. i own a 93 redtop sri daily driver, we have the staples to naples 130 now too, the mk3 is kewl but its not a patch on a 130 for sheer feel and feedback from the road! Even if it is a more refined drive ^-^ I also mahve my project mk2!
  24. hey and welcome to the site - I don't know whether anyone has explained this to you - (well done for reminding me Paul!) that your cav has an almost identical history to mine. I'm sure there is a link to my story I could paste but it seems more apt to give you an overview here.. I'm 26 years old, and my cavalier has traveled with me all the way from scotland with me to the South West of England. My Cavalier is probably my oldest friend too! I've had my car since my mum passed away when I was 12, and the car was my mums since February 1982 when it was brand new and was my dads first company car when he worked for Sir Alfred Mcalpine as an engineer. Build 1982, colour is "Jamacia Yellow". I simply grew up with this car. (see my avatar on the left! and the pictures elsewhere on the site!) It's never been owned by anyone but us and in the summer I tracked down the original dealership - see my story of summer 2005 - who gave me even more history of the cars past (including reciepts signed by my mother for its main services, and its original sales recipts too.. "I did miles and miles sat in the back as a small child and the car is almost a member of the family." snap!We lived in Scotland and the rest of the family lived in southern England - the cav always did us proud, eating up the miles when others failed. As other people may concur with me - my cav means an immense amount to me, it will be mine till the day I die - it was the reason I started mk2cav and even when my whole family were telling me it was time to move on, due to sentimental value, I refused to part with it and ownership fell to me back in 1996. 'Beth' - What I called it when I was little shall we say!) It's now about 100% rust free thanks to Kev (magpie on the site and it should be in paint for the first time in years this year. I'm really pleased to see 849 here, and I really hope that you become part of the club and 'show him off' at our events in the time to come. (It can also be really useful to become part of the club!) I hope you enjoy your time on the site, he looks like he has many a happy year to come!!!
