  1. ive just sold my set today as they were 8x17 et35 and wouldnt fit the cav unless it was 30mm or less lowered. i thought these were mine! but mine wernt white. i do like those wheels though and think that they really suit the mk3 cav as the touring car look.
  2. well it will cost you the price of the magazine but i guess its still a bargin for anybody who is going there on 3rd sept week (brands hatch to ring run) http://www.redlinemag.com/page/redline?entry=free_lap_of_the_nurburgring would be nice to go but hay i bought a car so im skint ;D ;D
  3. what a result!! i think these look better than i could have ever imagined and am looking for a set of these now for mine. SOD the impossible to get early runner sand Recaros. I WANT THESE NOW and ill get them retrimmed beige/brown to match the rest of my interior.
  4. yea i nearly bought them as well!! they look like they were meant for the cab mate how do you get people in the back now? just slide the seat forwards and squeeze?
  5. what about these? bit modern but again nice and different. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280388612176&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
  6. they look nice on that yea but its black mines a horrible beige colour i had a green hatchback with deep dish RH rims with the centers in black, and it looked right but the green didnt! im finding it difficult to get any wheels that will suit the beige saloon lines. those ferrari wheels where 16" front and 17" rear so i didnt get them BUT he has got some borbet A and yes they are deep dish but they are square and only a 7.5 x 16 so might look fine against the beige cav
  7. yes you are 100% correct ;D JOKE i say imo deep dish are for rwd mainly because i dont know of any fwd cars that come from the factory with deep dish wheels OLD OR MODERN CARS however there are lots of rwd & fwd cars that come with flat dish wheels i think a deep dish wheel looks stunning on a fwd car ie mx5, escort mk2, mercs, bmw 3, 5, 6,7 series, and so on and so forth however only a few fwd cars look nice on deep dish rims golfs, polos well most vw's to be fair and yes paul your cav looks nice on the deep dish you have as its a nicer colour for them than mine and also its a hatch back thus a bit smoother lines than the saloon i have its just my opinon and of course its not everybodys idea if it was then we would all have the same name ROBOT
  8. yea your right but i think that flat face wheels look crap on rwd cars and deep dish wheels look crap on fwd cars. but thats me i really like the 8x13 mini wheels but would never have them on a cav even if they were 16" but they look great even though its a fwd car its odd how i see this i know but my mate had voodoos on a manta and they looked shite, i put them on an astra and they looked a lot better. proberly goes back to my mk1 and mk2 escort days, then fiestas hit the seen and had flatter looking wheels. so ive looked at flat fwd and dish rwd
  9. just had a look at the gsi wheels na i dont them, bit modern and not my cup of tea i never thought it would be this hard to get wheels i like on the beige cav. > > im looking at andys wheels he had refurbished but i think they are a little to modern for the cav cav turbo rims look ok but are a bit 'the norm' nowdays lotus carlton wheels would look fantastic but wouldnt fit unless major cutting was involved (sod that) also i like ATS wheels but can only get them in 15" and i will need 16" due to the brakes
  10. im not a big fan either but i think that they will suit my hearing aid beige cav more than modern wheels, if it was black or red then maybe modern wheels would suit it more. the wheels are £425 on ebay and i think as ive got porsche wheels now then the next step up would be Ferrari ;D i want an old skool wheel, flat not rounded looking, deep dish dont suit it as its fwd not rwd. Banded steels would look nice for a while then id be bored with them plus ive herd that they are illegal was looking at the omega wheels but they still look a bit modern to me. i also like wolfrace Voodoo but a bit modern looking. plus have you ever seen Ferrari wheels on anything else? i was also looking at shark AMG wheels but toooooo modern, nice wheels though Borbet A are a lovley wheel but the dish wouldnt suit the fwd cav Azev A are nice but a bit modern looking i like the Ferrari wheels as they have a dish, but not to big, they are shiny but not to much (rim only), are squarish looking to suit the saloon lines and are totaly different. i also like the tsw imola and have a set in 4x100 but im going 5 stud. duno really any other ideas?? im going to pick the Ferrari wheels up at 2pm today, but if when i get there they dont look great then i wont get them and the search will continue :-\
  11. im having real trouble deciding on wheels for the cav when i go 5 stud but think i might have seen some i like. was looking at these http://media.photobucket.com/image/omega%20elite%20wheel/k3fus/09viewcopy.jpg but think ill get these, only trouble is where do i get a spare if anything happens?
  12. ive fitted the carbs and am trying to work out what colour the fuel pump and ing live are from the multi plug above the gearbox. i need ignition live for the fuel pump (unless somebody can tell me how to wire the relay with out the injection wiring loom fitted) 1x ignition live to the coil (was going to use same live for pump) (earth is through the mount to chassis) ive searched on here as i do remember somebody telling us what colour wires do what but i cant find it now so thought id ask before i go looking through the haynes manual, but thats a bit of a pain because i have to find it first!
  13. only thing wrong with it is, its not mine  looks nice mate
  14. I went to the rolling road today and would have liked to see at least 160bhp with the little sri 130 exhaust fitted and a bit more with the system removed. MODs are power cap blue zafira injectors chipped ECU cams and pullies air filter well it made loads less than that. thats not the dissapointment though the dissapointment was that it was a 1600cc exhaust thats been fitted!! the reason i asked for a sri130 exhaust as thats the biggest pipe work you can get for a cav without going to a made up system, plus i wante dthe quite ride more than looks or power, so im happy that it made nearly standard power on that little exhaust but even more upsetting is that the exhaust is a bit of a lash up to get it on the downpipe, as it has a restriction in the front where the large 16v downpipe meets the 1600cc system. instead of putting a larger pipe over the two parts they have fitted a small pipe inside! oh well... so now to fitting the carbs and going back next week and comparing inj to carbs :-\
  15. NO!!!!! i love the cav con but that brake light em not for me in any way what so ever, never ever no way, no like at all but WhoTF am i its your car ignore me ;D you nearly didnt buy that as i was going to get it for a RWD conversion changed my mind as i need to sell my MX5 first as i dont have the room for another car, so instread i bought a turbo engine for my mk2 8)
  16. is the m32 a straight fit as when i had mine it looked like a mission, looked like you needed drive shafts, box, gear lever, linkage cables and mod the subframe?
  17. mine was at best 26mpg on a run @60mph it had VXR injectors, air flow and turbo but only a F23 5 speed box, i didnt buy it for mpg, sad though as that was one of the main reasons i sold it!
  18. hello welcome aboard, what happened to the zafira? i had one running 296bhp and loved it but petrol went sky high and as it did 11mpg when your having a bit of fun and only 23mpg on a run,and there was talks about £400 a year road tax so i sold it after loosing nearly £10k on it THEN petrol came right done, and the £400 tax scheme seems to have gone. GUTTED heres a pic of it before it went up in BHP still ive got a better car now ;D ;D ;D
  19. im doing a spec sheet this week. and im going to be there late friday night (leaving cornwall when the kids get out of schoolapprox 6 hours drive) and will bring a tent, yes i know i said im too fat (and i am) but if all else fails ill leave it up and still go to my mates house about an hour away ;D
  20. i fitted cav mk3 straight into my con, but it was a pai not tilting as said before if you havnt already done so get caliba seats. whats this beige leather mark?
  21. is that 11th and 12th july? looked on billing events site and it says VBOA im guessing this is it?
  22. sure WAS! i would rather not thread steal so please have a look here http://www.mk2cav.com/forum/index.php?topic=13669.0
  23. 2 weeks isnt a problem ill have it built well buy then! only problem is that on the 27th im doing the Rockingham VXR track day so ill have to miss it if its the same weekend. costs??? duno, but materials inc paint, primer, high build, filler, etch primer, laquar, pearl cyrstal, booth tape (not cheapo masking tape) paper, DA discs, wet and dry, scotch cloth, scotch paste, foam paper, 3m door shut mask piping, G3 & G10 (belive me i didnt know about a 1/4 of this lot before last monday) plus electric, for lighting and compresser, gas for booth etc etc has cost around £300 AT COST due to mates rates. labour from the painter and lots of other prep i had no chance in the world of even getting half right has been about 12 hours @£15 hour (i was taking other work away while he done my car) so id say about £500 ISH but now ive done a lot of work i really do see that even at £2000 it would be a very good price given how much hard work is involved. i wouldnt do it again too save £1500 id wait a year or so and save up!!!!! but now its done mark (my mate) has said it would be about a drive in & drive out £2500-£3000 paint job if they did EVERYTHING ive put over 50 hours into it after work, all day friday and saturday etc and i cant even machine polish it as i rubbed through the paint with 1500! YES 1500 is about as rough as the back of the wet and dry paper! i must admit though no matter how much of a saving it was i WOULDNT ever do it again, yea id strip and rebuild it maybe even da again but never strip the bonnet to bare metal that took 18 80grit da discs and 6 hours solid. its worth every single peeny IMO but each to their own i guess when i go to car shows again i will be checking evey show car comparing how good or bad mine is to theirs and im hoping fingers crossed im to fussy :)
