  1. OK if not "blunt" how about "to the point without the expected Irish baloney"
  2. Having closed all the 2017 threads this is the place for any comments on VBOA or the next show.
  3. If you guys want to continue this line of chat can you do it somewhere else please? I'll be deleting the O/T stuff.
  4. Hi all. We had the meeting in Luton in Luton this morning and thanks to those of you who gave feedback. We are at Market Harborough again next year, the vote was unanimous, probably the 14/15 July weekend. That will be confirmed over the next few days. A new show organising joint VBOA/LMF sub committee has been formed to spread the load of implementing the improvements, including stand sizes and location, based on this year's experiences. They will report back at the November VBOA meeting. LMF and VBOA have clearly taken on board many positive suggestions and LMF along with the landowner and MH District Council will be working to put in some permanent toilets/showers up near the entrance. hopefully in time for next year. A temporary toilet management team, better rubbish system (LMF said that they had seriously underestimated the amount and more security will also be in place. There will also be a wet weather plan rather than a 'seat of the pants' operation. The 'entertainment' tent will, as an experiment for one year, be licensed from Friday lunchtime to Sunday morning and until midnight on Saturday, the range and times of food will also be increased. This is due partly to cater for overseas visitors, who may not have stocked up on their way, as well as those who found carrying booze from the far corners of the site up to the tent a bit of an effort! The' road' system is to be modified, basically widened, more clearly marked and probably one-way. Also possibly a co-ordinated bus service into town. In other business this year's spares day was cancelled, subject to Vauxhall permission there is a plan to run one next year in conjunction with a day at the Heritage Museum in Luton. Next update in November.
  5. OK, you guys have got until next Saturday to get your suggestions/comments on the Show to me. There is a VBOA meeting with LMF next Sunday.
  6. Thread locked, please use the 'Chat thread'
  7. Sorry its sideways, my correct version won't load error 200
  8. I am not there on Thursday to see what the pitch looks like in reality. An initial thought as to what our layout might be is below. Will you guys who get there on Thursday check it out to see if its basic structure is likely to work please? Also keep the post that John of VBOA has put in the middle safe.
  9. This came in today from the Man Today me and Richard with the help of James from JOV and Ian Virco (Yes noisey bins Ian) have spent from 9.30 this morning till 6 pm marking out all the club stands, each stand has a 4ft pole with your respective club named on it in approx the middle of your stand, Please upon arrival will the reps remove and keep these safe, I need the return of them all, you can either bring them to me on my club stand (Vauxhall Cresta club) or bring them back on the Saturday morning meeting. Please no excuses. The show ground is starting to look good now and I can start to visualise what it will look like and I am getting excited about the weekend. The weather forecast looks good so bring the sun cream because all of us have got burnt today doing the various bits on the field today. Can someone who gets there on Thursday please save the pole with our name on? I don't get there till Friday. I'm bringing the Club banner.
  10. If you are leaving the M1 at J20 for the A4304 please be aware that there are a lot of speed cameras on that road. When you get to the village of Lubbenham turn left onto Foxton Road. This will take you to the western, prison, end of Gallow Fields Road so turn right and the showground is down there on the right. It avoids going through Market Harborough.
  11. Drive through access for a mower too
  12. Now that's what a garage should be
  13. What is displaying the error?
  14. Further to Andy's request for a contact, all it really involves is attending the site meeting around 09.00 on Sat and Sun morning and giving a contact phone number for emergencies. We really need someone and I need to give a name by the middle of next week (we leave these things a bit late), so if someone could volunteer it would be a huge help. Put your name here or PM Andy. My house is on a plot 50x20 so I can visualise the space we will have quite easily, even if we get last year's numbers we should fit OK. This is the official LMF map showing entrances etc, not to scale! We enter from the top entrance and will be pretty easy to find.
  15. I have just put this on the Facebook page. We were one of the few Clubs that input our requirements to VBOA on time and we asked for space for 25/30 cars and 20 tents. In one of the lotteries of life we have ended up with the smallest pitch on the site but in a good spot. The Club is having discussions on how to organise ourselves. We know that those of you currently on our master list are in. If you are a member but not on that list, get on it. If you are not a Club member, join and get on the list to have any chance of getting on the stand. Sorry about the quality of the layout but this is how it came. We are in the bottom row. I do not think we will have a problem but we will certainly have a lot less flexibility than at Billing. Vehicle access is via the road at the bottom. The 'top' of the pitch is the 'front' of the stand with no access. LATEST (second) VERSION OF LAYOUT
  16. IMPORTANT IF YOU WANT REDUCED PRICE CAMPING Deadline Update.... The deadline for prebooking the camping is the 25th June which allows LMF to get the passes out to people and allows for any delays the post may have, we will be working the weekend of 24th & 25th June for those of you that would like to book by phone TEL 01858 433 599 for Camping
  17. This is a very very very urgent message to all VBOA reps, Vauxhall Motors will have the Heritage Centre open this Sunday whilst the Luton Festival Of Transport is on, we have been asked if we could support the Heritage Centre with some vehicles for display etc If people can park some cars at the Heritage Centre they can then catch the FREE bus up to the show at Stockwood Park. Food and drink will be on site. Please please could you all put this on your sites and get some support for Vauxhall's it is in the normal place that we have our show, the gates are open from 9am (Park Street, Luton). You can put my mobile number on the advert if any one wishes to call me ref attending the event (07947 536221) This is as mentioned very urgent and the VBOA needs support to show Vauxhall's we will support them.
  18. Yes but you have to be a paid up member which you can do via the 'Store' link above.
  19. Looking at your VIN plate your car was made at Antwerp 1 plant in 1988. Welcome to the site. Any chance of a picture of your collection?
  20. Following Sunday's VBOA meeting we have a better idea as to what will happen. Must say its starting to look good with lots of other things going on around the cars. The original plan of VBOA badges pre-issued has now been dumped. Policing of entitlement to be on a particular stand has been devolved to the Clubs, as per Billing. When you arrive you will be directed to our stand, where you will be allowed on if a paid up Member, or to the public car park. The Club is being notified in advance by email of those who are booking using our Club name. Advance booking will close earlier than past years, probably 14 days in advance, as they are still on the learning curve. The thread is now unlocked but please restrict comments to organisational matters.
  21. Come on guys and gals get your names down, I only have two more weeks before I submit estimated figures.
