  1. Hi and welcome to the site, i live in wrexham and drive a red sri130 saloon, Rabbit as you may be aware lives just outside Wrexham and has an assortment of Cavs and a Caly under restoration.
  2. Yes you can i did when last at Billing about 3-4 years ago and will be doing so this time as staying at Premier Travel inn about 5 mins walk away.
  3. Hi Caroline and welcome to the site, there is a wealth of experience on here from simple jobs through from minor to full restorations and engine upgrades. Also a good source of parts or info on where to get parts. Ah MGB, i have had two of these and an MGC 3 Litre with a university motors conversion, and will have another to keep the 130 company ( if wife and bank manager allow!!!)

May be the float, short the line to the float to earth and see if the gauge goes hard over to full thats how i checked the one on my 130.

    Hi aye!

Hi and welcome, that looks a nice car,has it always been on the island? Isle of Lewis, you are lucky living there what a lovely part of the world been there twice years ago. Does the car want much doing to it? In the past i have had a lot of rare parts via ebay from Lewis.
  6. No not in the UK, dont know though if it was available anywhere else sometime later in its life during manufacture, but i dont think so. I would love it in my 130 if it had been available though. Wonder what the parts situation is like over there. I have in the past seen Cav and Ascona c parts on ebay from down under. Would think a Cav Cabriolet would be nice over there with the weather you have. Does your car show any signs of rusting anywhere?
  7. Welcome, i like the Cav and the Astra looks VERY nice. Are there many Cavs down under that were imported? Were they imported by private individuals or were they sold over there. I would think you dont have the rust problems over there unlike the UK with plenty of rain mixed with salt on the roads in the winter, this has killed off most of the Cavs over here.
  8. There will be a queue for this one if it ever comes up for sale . As for we buy any car,the saying goes we buy any car for f*** all.
  9. Shame i love 130 saloons and that looked nice like the colour, was it definitely scrapped any chance someone had it to restore?
  10. I am a saloon man myself (probably a minority ) but i prefer the two door with a boot.
  11. Hello Bruno and welcome, i like your car i think the chevy badge suits the grill over there. Have you had to do much work on the car oris it mostly original. I would imagine the bodywork lasts better over there than here in the uk as we get quite a lot of rain here and loads of salt on the roads in the winter.
  12. Hi Bram and welcome, thats a nice motor love the colour, you guys over the water produce some nice motors
  13. Welcome, thats a very nice looking car always liked the gt,s
  14. Thr 130 brain has the following Bosch and GM part numbers on it. BOSCH O 261 200 120 GM 90 298 613 The numbers on the normal 2.0 brain will obviously be different The brain is located in the front passenger footwell.
  15. The standard 2.0 letters will read NE, but for your information there is also an engine fitted into the Astra GTE 8 valve MK2 Saloon (not the convertable ) where the letters read SER this is the same mechanicaly as the SEH fitted to the 130 but things like the exhaust and ecu are different.
  16. Dont know about a thread but you can tell a 130 by the following, the engine code letters should read SEH, the front brake discs are larger than the other cars, the ecu has a different code number on specific to the 130,the exhaust is of a greater diameter 48 instead of 45 as on the standard 2.0 sri, there is an oil cooler fitted, the front air dam has fog lights fitted as per the CDi,the door logos say SRI 130, the radiator expansion tank has two top outlets on the 130 and the oil filter is specific to the 130. I have yet to see a log book that states sri 130 they only state sri. Cannot think of any otherb differences. By now many cars could have after market exhausts, front discs and other items fitted or changed also remember it is easy to make a standard sri into a 130 although the cost may not be viable to do this but i have seen standard sri,s with the door transfers fitted and an oil cooler added. It would be nice to find one with the original bill of sale to conform a 130, i have one with mine and most probably many others on this site also have this confirmation.
  17. Checked my house and none of my cars on drive thank god dont want thieves getting any ideas.
  18. I am prepared to give it a go than (so its a yes for 130 saloon with engine mods ) only hope i dont gas everyone out, however if i have a new job by then i will have a completely upgraded bottom end done. But it will be interesting to see what it makes now as its been a couple of years since it was done but must admit it was slightly smokey than but they did go to max revs.
  19. Would love to bring the 130 with the mods on but smokes when under hard acceleration top end all new but bottom end from astra GTE with unknown mileage so dont think it would survive on the r road without sudden death.
  20. Nice looking car i love the colour, and nice to hear from enthusiats in other countries. Are two door asconas rare over there?
  21. Nice estate cant be many if any with that sort of mileage as most finished their days as decorators or window cleaners working transport. Wife likes the car by the way from the photos and she loves my 130 (probably because i bought it for her in 1993/4)
  22. you hope we like her ??? i LOVE her, very very smart.
  23. That is one serious nice car love the colour, used to know of an orangey coloured one ( that was a 1.6 i think) here in Wrexham years ago buy i think it rotted out if i remember.
  24. Do like i do work on house when she is in and nip out and do jobs on the car when she is out and say job in house took longer than you thought but i am a lying sod.
  25. Yep that was a good buy i remember years ago turning one down for £100 as i thought it was to expensive, similar find to what you have there how times have changed.
