  3. Andy you are a clever fellow!! - love the June 8! ;D ;D Auto sign up pretty neat too! Hopefully job done - if not pls let me know.
  4. Sorry for the above did not mean to start an avalanche of pre-emptive groans - it was tongue in cheek and hope that I would not have a serious clash of dates! As a peripheral member (somewhere in outer space) and net taker from the club I would not seek to influence your deliberations in any way. You have established patterns of activity which have stood the test of time - so hats off. Look forward to it whenever it is.
  5. pls register my interest its dependent on clashing with certain other things in June (eg Le Mans) pls let us have a date as soon as- maybe sooner than later - May??
  6. Ouch - good luck with the repairs.
  7. I have never seen so much XXXX stuff on here! Shows all things are possible!!
  8. Congrats to one and all re the stand and the Club Award especially on the 30 year anniversary. Lots of shiny MkII's having had hours of love, TLC, elbow grease and pennies lavished on them. It seems a good time was had by all judging by this thread. Popped up for a couple of hours on Sat pm and chatted with a couple of exibitors - unfortunatley busy schedule last weekend - the convertible got us there and back in one piece.
  9. This meet is the bus been the last 2 years we will try our best - maybe not for the posers but really interesting for the rest of us!!
  10. Seems a good idea to head to Bridgwater on 6 November for RR action this year this year!!!
  11. Well done to one and all to get a stand together and lots of cars - they looked well. Plenty of good retro vehicles not seen before - generally more standard - enjoyed it. Really much more gentile this year cf last year. Lots of bottled water and meusli/apricot yoghurt!! The track was not as exciting as the previous year when it was run the other way round - I guess the health and safety boys were worried about someone going down the hill and not stopping!! Need lots of grunt to get round the bottom corner and up the hill twice. Matey rolling his escort went some way to redressing the balance. Easy to get to, the track, the cars and the museum as a pleasant aside makes it a good day out.
  12. One attraction of that venue last year was that for those who wished to give their motors a blast there was the opportunity to drive them around the small track that is next to the Haynes motor museum - for a small fee (£10 I think) - you are able to complete a couple of loops on the tarmac track and provoded with a crash helmet plus safety briefing. There was a speed gun so you could try to better your mates. It also provided some good viewing for the other folks watching. This iwas not recommended for the 'shiny set' as it was fairly bumpy tarmac.
  13. Is this going to be after the General Election?
  14. There was a message: mk2cav.com till today! is that what you mean?

At least nobody will pester you to sell it for banger racing. A common request if you have a daily driver (ie not pristine).

    Hello & Thanks

Hello re the red convertible I bought it in the fens - last 2 owners - Wisbech and Spalding. I understand somebody just wanted to put a cheap personal plate on it - could be wrong if the year works out correctly for the province. The DVLA search does not let you know if the plate has been transferred - I just checked for a couple - quite often the colour seems to be incorrect!! cheers Roger

    Hello & Thanks

This site has provided me with good value over the last few months - thanks for that. When I joined up had a lot of trouble getting myself organised - but with help of Messrs Daz & Andy all was sorted more thanks - still struggle to find my way round - especially if the pub is closed and only Super T in the fridge. To Mk2 Cavs - drove a C reg powder blue 1.6L to 108000 from straight out the box in just about 3 years - lease car handed back - pretty battered after many trips to Europe from the southern tip of Italy to above the artic circle in Finland. Driver’s seat was well worn and rust by the fuel cap Reason came back to Mk2's - always liked them - quit my job after long innings - 'needed a ride for the summer' - saw the advert on Ebay 86D Convertible Mk2 Cav - with photo below. Sorry unable to put photos onto forum (tried 20 things first). http://img369.imageshack.us/my.php?image=vauxconv8am.jpg (40 mins later) When I collected it there was a double shock – the car was purple not blue (as per picture) – also I thought it was diesel but the 86D referred to the no plate D reg! The car ran well for 18 months great fun – my sons christened it the ‘purple love machine’ – they also drove it on sunny days – the joy of the other vehicle clause on their insurance policies despite their tender years. The hood looks tatty but never leaks – spray it from time to time – 1.8i injected engine allows the national speed limit to be exceeded – no power steering (PAS) precludes Mrs from driving it – wide alloys do not help. Came with immobiliser which makes parking it with the hood down no problem. Now resting whilst windscreen replaced together with track rod ends and sill repairs. Usual oil leak also being attended to! Presently driving a white 1.6L – bought by mistake on Ebay – just bidding to see the reserve unfortunately the other two bidders withdrew and left me a trip to Preston (where I think the previous owner is one of your members) with the spectacle dolly to collect it! Luckily another vehicle expired which made it an indispensable acquisition. So changed a couple of tyres and the MOT was mine. Mrs does not mind driving this one despite the lack of PAS. Here it is after the trip down! http://img293.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc018142cy.jpg Purchased a 2.0 Cdi for spare parts at Christmas – cannot bear to break it so will get another methinks. Everthing works and even MOT. http://img388.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc018113hi.jpg Also have a second convertible bought for the new hood 6 months ago – car a bit of a wreck but getting better. http://img79.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ba1b0dg.jpg So there you have it a catalogue of 20 months of happy stumbling – not too much money spent and lots of fun. Only real downer too tight to compete for the gas converted Cav a couple of weeks ago on Ebay. Cheers Roger
