Please note all Campers, VBOA members and traders must come through the entrance that is on Gallow field Road LE16 9RP. People that pre book their camping will also be issued with a vehicle pass which identifies how many nights the person has booked for, and the club to which they belong. These passes must be shown in the windscreen, of the vehicle to which they relate to, at all times. Thursday 6th Members that are not camping, but are staying in hotels, can still gain access to the site to help their fellow members set up gazebos etc. The only vehicles that can be left onsite on the Thursday are campers vehicles unless by prior arrangement. People that are staying off site are requested to remove their vehicles, from site, before 2100 hrs. From Friday 7th Members that are staying off site will be required to pay a vehicle £10 daily car pass fee. Glamping We have spoken with a company that is willing to lay on Posh Tents. These are available on a first come first served basis, as we only have a limited number of tents. Please book up quickly if you require one of these The tents consist of, and are offered at the following rates; Prices are for Friday night through to Monday morning 4mtr sleep up to 4 people Price for the 3 nights is £218 5mtr sleeps up to 6 people for the 3 nights £278 6mtr sleeps up to 8 people for the 3 night £348 All Tents include, and are furnished with, memory foam mattresses, colourful rugs, throws, cushions, fairy lights, a low table and lamp. Due to the size of these tents, we are unable to offer them in the club stand area. Kelvin

Welcome to the site Kelvin. Where in the country are you?
  6. Correct, we book though LMF just as we booked through Billing. The site is huge, we should be OK for 40 odd cars probably laid out much as before, Cavaliers out front, others and tents etc behind. Next VBOA meeting is 7th May. Oh and sorry Greg, they don't regard rugby on TV as a priority.
  7. I and a few other VBOA reps are off to see the new site next Sunday. Anyone got any points they want checked out?
  8. We will miss you Ivan. Think you have made the right decision tho'.
  9. 'Miltin Keynes' he pricks up his ears.
  10. Thanks Ken, I knew I'd forgotten something. Yes, as per old style Billing. I seem to remember 7.5 x 7.5 m for £45 but don't quote me on that! Plus the existing food vans with a few extras. Plus a Saturday night entertainment marquee with a covers band playing. No booze other than what you bring yourselves. Plus the existing food vans with a few extras. 11. And appropriate if a Cav owner again. Welcome back to the house of fun!
  12. The event will take place on the weekend of 8th and 9th July 2017. The new show will be held at: Market Harborough Show Ground Gallow Field Road Market Harborough LE16 7QB Google Maps ref please click this link https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.4935659,-0.9515881,15z The event is being supported by LMF Vauxhall and all booking is to be handled directly with them. Please follow the link below to book: http://www.lmfvauxhall.co.uk/Camping-for-VBOA-National-Day-2017.html The cost is £17 per night when pre booked, for a car with up to 4 occupants, or £23 per night if not pre-booked. Day visitors will be charged £10 per vehicle with up to 4 occupants. Unlike with Billing Aquadrome, this site will be exclusively used for the VBOA National Rally and the whole site has been secured for our use. The below details are those given to us by LMF Vauxhall at the most recent VBOA Meeting: The site has recently been opened for shows and events (so it may not appear on many search engine results) and is located approximately 18 miles from the former site at Billing. It is a 75 acre site, easily accessed from the M1, M6 and A14. The site will be open from 8am on Friday 7th July to campers, and will have to be vacated by 11am on Monday 10th July. It looks like campers can arrive on the Thursday. There will be space for camping however the site does not offer electrical hookups for caravans, but there is a chemical toilet disposal point for caravan users. Showers and toilets will be provided on site. There will be catering and refreshment providers in the main arena, and there are also various food outlets and supermarkets etc within 1 mile of the site. On the Saturday night, entertainment will be provided from 8pm to 11pm in the main show marquee by a local band. The booking for this event is being handled wholly by LMF Vauxhall as they are sponsoring the event, please use the link to book. Please note that this link is only for Mk2Cav Club Members and all those who wish to show with us on site must be members of the club, or travelling with members of the club. This is for insurance purposes as we have Public Liability Insurance covering our members on site. http://www.lmfvauxhall.co.uk/Camping-for-VBOA-National-Day-2017.html Would those of you interested in coming please add yourselves to the list below in order that we can gauge the numbers of attendees and know how big a pitch size to book.
  13. Right, some background for you all. We had a VBOA Rep meeting today in Luton at which it was revealed that none of the sites that were being looked at were a starter for 2017. In particular the financial risks were too high combined with a serious workload for the Committee. We then had a presentation by LMF Vauxhall, who many of you will be aware of. They are based in Market Harborough where, as part of a huge housing deal on a disused grass airfield, developers have and are establishing a new 70 acre show ground which held its first event, a County show with 12,000 attendees, this summer just past. So, LMF, wanting to both put something back into both the Vauxhall community and their own town, proposed that they take over the bulk of the effort and all the risk of putting on the VBOA event. Given that the location meets virtually all the VBOA's requirements you can imagine the response of us Reps. Immediate decision with 100% support. If we get it right we could be there for a very long time. I suspect that next summer will be a bit hit and miss as both sides go up the learning curve and LMF finds out how much money it will have to put in and hopefully make to invest in the future. So far it looks very good. They have agreed that certainly for next year the prices and ticket conditions will remain the same as 2016 Billing. Booking will be via the LMF website and phone lines which will now be upgraded and will probably go live around the 1st December. Expect a far better service than the inadequates at Billing. The main differences to Billing at the moment look to be that the toilet/shower infrastructure will be hired in, not permanent; access to the site will be more limited in terms of the times the gates are open, arrivals discouraged after 21.00; a noise clampdown at 23.00. The latter two I suspect are part of the local authority conditions on the site. The site is camping and dog friendly, level, not on a flood plain and fully fenced. As with Billing there are many local hotels and facilities. If you want to get in the Travelodge or Premier Inn now might be a good time to book! It is on the 8/9 July and you can stay overnight on the Friday/Saturday/Sunday nights. Not sure on Thursday. See you there.
  14. This thread is now locked as it has been overtaken by the others on the subject.
  15. Please use this thread for general discussion and memories/pictures of the event. Plus any comments on this year's show and suggestions for next year's.
  16. This is the main information thread on the Show. As before please do not use it for general comments, if you do they will be removed. Please add your name to the sign up thread if you are planning to come.
  17. Just a quick update to say that the VBOA 2017 event will be at the Market Harborough Showground on the weekend of the 8th/9th July. Charges will be as Billing this year. More details to follow later today.
  18. We have an extraordinary VBOA meeting on the 20th Nov. There will be an update after that.
  19. The Spares day event this weekend has been cancelled by VBOA due to unforeseen circumstances. Pass the word.
  20. Mmmmm, interesting, a pop-up meet! There is a group from a Club I am in here who do just that. I will ask this evening what their arrangements are. The answer may be delayed as I leave on holiday 04.30 in the morning!
  21. Is that the + 'Follow this thread' button? Count me in.
  22. Just a reminder of the date of this year's event The Connexion Conference Centre, Leamington Road, Ryton-on-Dunsmore, Coventry, CV8 3FL http://vboa.org.uk/9-events/19-vboa-parts-day-and-autojumble-30th-october
  23. There was a VBOA reps meeting at Luton this morning. All car clubs using Billing were told last Tuesday that there would be no car based events there from now on, so, after 34 years at Billing the journey has ended. Having been told that, with 29 of the 31 VBOA clubs represented, the meeting turned into a little like herding cats! As you can imagine there were many different views. However, after an hour or so going round in circles a compromise was found and decisions taken. The VBOA committee are now starting on checking out alternatives. The first thing to take on board is that there is no Billing equivalent out there. Compromises are going to have to be made. One of the biggest to us operationally as a Club is that we are going to have to predict attendance more accurately (for pitch size) and almost certainly collect ticket money ourselves. The sites that will be checked out, against an agreed set of requirements, are, in no particular order, Peterborough Show Ground, Luton Hoo, Bicester Heritage, West Midlands Show Ground Shrewsbury, Newark Show Ground. Availability being checked for the first two weekends in July. Us reps will be consulted but a decision should be reached by the Committee this month and I will update this post as soon as I know anything. Feel free to make comments. John
