New visitor to mk2cav.com & long time CAV owner

Hi to anyone reading this, I have now taken delivery of my 1986 C88 HPP black 1.8e convertible, ( well a few weeks back, also had just moved , now have a garage ;D), got it from ebay for £360, no mot and sorn for last 4 years, but not in bad condition, new arches needed, some other rust patches but hopefully that's it. Will try and put some pics up but don't hold your breath !!!!!!!

                                         MY CAVALIER HISTORY

In 1993 bought my 1st car - C603 BNF black 4dr 1.8se SRI , ran her for 18th mths or so, then the insurance wrote her off after a small prang, and i bought a D reg red 5dr 1.8se  SRI which i ran for 5 weeks, some guy had bought BNF from the scrapper and repaired it, so i went to see him and did a swap for the hatch, having got her back i ran BNF for another 18mths , then i  saw F463 XNW black 4dr 2.0seh SRI, mint,  low miles 2 owner, so i bought it , and sent BNF to the scrappers as it had rotted in the boot floor and footwells, (too much for the mot), i ran XNW for 3years until some fool pulled out and drove into the n/s frt wing/door , the insurance wrote it off cat d , (bought it back to use as spares on my next ) but couldn't find another decent mk2 so got a mk3 H672 DCU blue 4dr 2.0seh SRI , XNW sat out on the road for a few months while i decided what to do, and the council did that for me by lifting it for no tax, so i let go. I ran DCU for 4years and it to become too tired , so it went to be replaced with another mk3 M885 VWY black 4dr 2.5 V6 CDX, again, mint, 2 owner low miles

full leather, air con, heated seats,4x elec w,s/r, manual, the lot, a lovely cav, then in 2007 had to get a work car and had to part ex the cav as i couldn't keep 2 cars and the wifes, wish i hadn't now as it was mint , no rust, 76000 on a '95 car,  :'(  , wife has a '05 Corsa , full leather, climate, heated seats,semi auto, very nice,, so as you see there has always been a vauxhall outside the house, (cavaliers for 15years) and now i'm back to the mk2 and having to refrain from buying more (one of each would be nice)  so any suggestions as to what to do with mine original or subtle mods maybe a calibre kit ?? please reply, hope i ain't bored you all too much , thanks for reading............................

alright mate, thats some loyalty to cavs you have there! Calibre kits do look good on the convertibles. I've got a sliver convertible, leaving the outside standard for now but wouldn't mind a kit myself. Leaving the engine a 1.8? got any pics of her?

gonna keep the 1.8, always found the 8 valves to be good engines, was thinking maybe silver respray or back to original anthracite?? this will be a long term project ,happy doing mechanicals but never done any bodywork before, except for sorting out light rust spots  have got some pics, just need to organise uploading to the bucket thing??!!!??

I'm in the same boat as yourself mate. Got myself a convertible. mine has a years mot so is a rolling project. Usual back arch needing done and it needs a new roof. apart from that, its not too bad. be  great to see yours and mine in a finished state and rescued from the great scrapyard in the sky

look forward to seeing pics of the progress. my first thing is fitting a GTE digital dash. flashy lights!! ;D
